Treasures – Attractions – Pure Romance

Quedlinburg Old Town is listed with its 1200 half timbered houses as a unique historical monument whose cultural importance is recognised internationally.

It is the place where in Finkenherd in AD 919 the Saxon duke Henry I known as ‘Henry the Fowler’ became the first king of the medieval German state.

In 1994 UNESCO recognised the City’s importance and added it to the list of World Heritage Cities. This honour not only encompasses the whole medieval city with its winding streets, impressive churches and lovingly restored half timbered houses, but includes the Schlossberg and Collegiate Church of St. Servatius with its thousand year old Treasury.

A holiday here in the cradle of Germany will immerse the visitor back into the Middle Ages.
